Easy To Know ("Easy To Know", "we", "our", "the app") is an all-in-one Android toolkit that includes local file sharing, weather, a network speed test, alarms, device and app info tools, a storage analyzer, a media converter, an IP lookup tool, and a free VPN, using your own Google account to sign in. This Privacy Policy explains in detail what information the app accesses, why, how it's stored and protected, and what choices and rights you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Google Account info: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL.
- Device permission status: The app checks locally whether WiFi and Location are turned on — this status is not sent anywhere, it's only used to guide you through enabling the right settings.
- Device & app information: Tools like Device Info, Apps Manager, and Storage Analyzer read information already available on your device — hardware specs, battery status, installed apps and their permissions, and storage usage. This information is read and shown locally on your device and is not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
- Approximate location / IP address: The Weather tool uses your device's location to fetch a forecast, and the Speed Test, IP Info, and Free VPN tools inherently see your device's IP address as part of how internet connections work. See Section 4 below for details on how these are used.
- App preferences: Basic in-app settings, saved alarms, and speed-test history are stored locally on your device.
We do not collect payment/financial information, contacts, call logs, SMS, or biometric data. We do not read the contents, names, or metadata of the files you transfer, and we do not log or inspect the internet traffic that passes through the Free VPN feature — that data never reaches our servers.
2. Permissions We Request
- Location — required by Android to create or join a WiFi hotspot for file transfers, and used by the Weather tool to show a forecast for your area. We do not store your precise GPS coordinates on any server.
- Camera — used only to scan the QR code shown by the sending device during a file transfer. We do not store any photo or video from the camera.
- WiFi state / Nearby devices — used to create and join the temporary hotspot used for transferring files.
- Storage (Downloads / Pictures folder) — used to save files you receive, and images you convert, into your device's Downloads or Pictures folder.
- Notifications — used to show the alarm-ringing notification and the ongoing VPN connection status.
- Alarms & Reminders (exact alarms) — required on newer Android versions so your set alarms ring at the correct time.
- Query all packages — used only by the Apps Manager tool to list the apps installed on your device, so you can review their permissions or uninstall them. This list is displayed locally and is not uploaded anywhere.
- VPN connection — requested only when you turn on the Free VPN tool, to route your device's internet traffic through the VPN tunnel. It has no effect unless you actively enable this feature.
You can review or revoke Easy To Know's access to your Google account anytime from your Google Account — Third-party access settings.
3. The Free VPN Feature
The Free VPN tool routes your device's internet traffic through Cloudflare's free WARP network using an on-device WireGuard tunnel. When you enable this feature:
- A WireGuard key pair is generated on your device and registered with Cloudflare to establish the tunnel — this registration does not require you to create an account or provide payment details.
- Your internet traffic is routed through Cloudflare's servers while the VPN is on, so Cloudflare's own privacy practices apply to that traffic. We do not operate the VPN servers ourselves, and we do not see, log, or store the content of your VPN traffic.
- You can turn the VPN off at any time from within the app, which stops routing traffic through the tunnel.
Please review Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details on how Cloudflare itself handles traffic on its network.
4. Weather, Speed Test & Network Tools
A few tools in the app work by sending a request to a free, keyless public service to fetch results — no account or sign-in is required for these, and we do not operate these services ourselves:
- Weather — your device's approximate location is sent to Open-Meteo, a free public weather API, to retrieve current conditions and forecasts.
- Speed Test — a small amount of test data is exchanged with Cloudflare's public speed-test servers to measure your download speed, upload speed, ping, and jitter. Results are saved only on your device.
- IP Info — your device's public IP address is looked up against a public IP-information service to display your network details.
These requests are made directly from your device to the relevant service, and any data involved (such as approximate location or IP address) is only what's inherently needed for the request to work — we do not separately collect, log, or store this information ourselves.
5. How We Use Your Information
- To let you sign in and identify your account
- To display your name and profile photo inside the app
- To guide you through enabling WiFi/Location so a transfer or weather lookup can proceed
- To provide the results shown by the Weather, Speed Test, IP Info, and Free VPN tools
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
6. Where Your Data Is Stored
File transfers happen directly between two devices over a local WiFi connection created by the app. Files you send or receive are never uploaded to, stored on, or processed by any server operated by us.
Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo reference — is stored using Firebase Authentication (Google Cloud), restricted to your own signed-in account only.
Alarms, speed-test history, and app preferences are stored locally on your device only and are removed if you uninstall the app.
7. Sharing of Information
We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Information may be shared only:
- With Google, as necessary to provide Google Sign-In / Firebase Authentication functionality
- With Cloudflare and Open-Meteo, as necessary to provide the Free VPN, Speed Test, and Weather features, as described in Sections 3 and 4
- If required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
- As part of a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition), with notice provided to you
8. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account information for as long as you keep your Easy To Know account active. You can sign out of the app anytime from the Profile screen. Alarms, speed-test history, and other locally-stored data can be cleared from within the app or by uninstalling it. To request full deletion of your account data, email us below and we will process your request within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Your Rights & Choices
- Access the account data we hold about you
- Delete your account data by contacting us
- Withdraw consent anytime by signing out and revoking the app's access from your Google Account
- Turn off the Free VPN, Location, Camera, or any other permission at any time from your device's app settings
10. Security
- All network communication with Google's, Cloudflare's, and Open-Meteo's services uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- We never see or store your Google password — authentication is handled entirely by Google Sign-In
- File transfers occur over a direct, local WiFi link between your two devices, never through our servers
11. Children's Privacy
Easy To Know is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
12. Third-Party Services
The app integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy in addition to this one:
- Google Sign-In & Firebase Authentication — for account sign-in
- Cloudflare — for the Free VPN and Speed Test tools
- Open-Meteo — for the Weather tool
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
If you have questions about this policy or want to request data deletion, email us at:
